FAQ
Questions a careful person would ask.
What exactly am I buying?
A position on the car for 12 months from the day the decals go on, a monthly report of where it went (km, cantons, ferry crossings), and every photograph your logo appears in, licensed for your own use. Not a sticker. A year of Swiss roads, with receipts.
What happens if the board closes below the lease?
Everything is refunded, no decals are applied, and the campaign is publicly cancelled. The line is $541/month — the actual lease, CHF 433, at a fixed rate of 1.25 — and it's printed on the bar so nobody has to trust a promise.
Is my deposit charged when I bid?
No. Bidding places an authorisation of 20% of the first month (minimum $10) on your card. If you're outbid it's released in full, automatically, and you get an email. If you win, it's captured as part of month 1 at close.
Why does everything start at $1?
Because the board should set the price, not me. Every placement on the car starts at $1 and moves in $10 steps. The only thing that isn't $1 is the $10 hold on your card — an authorisation, never a charge — which is what keeps troll bids off the board. And if the whole board closes below the $541 line, nobody pays anything.
Why an auction instead of a price list?
Because the honest price for this is unknown. The bulk brokers pay drivers about $25 a month for a panel; the ferry deck alone is worth more than that. The market gets to decide, in public, with a deposit behind every number.
When does my logo appear on the car?
Upload it when you bid (SVG, PNG, JPG or WebP). From the moment you're the top bidder it shows in your box on the car here on the site and on the leaderboard; if you're outbid it hands over to the next logo. The real decal is cut from the same file after close, so a vector file is best. Logos are subject to the sponsor policy.
What does the decal actually look like?
Cut vinyl on the existing paint, not a wrap. Pole is the tailgate and rear quarter; Panels are full door-height logos; Micros are small decals on sills, window edges and bumpers. You approve the artwork at size before it's cut. Colour-change wraps need registration with the Strassenverkehrsamt — decals don't, which is why this is cheaper, reversible and easier for the lessor to approve.
The car is leased. Is that a problem?
It's a fact, stated upfront. Written consent from the lessor is required before any vinyl is applied — the decal step is gated on it. If consent is refused, the campaign is cancelled and everyone is refunded.
What if the car changes, gets written off, or the lease ends?
You're guaranteed an equivalent-or-better vehicle for the remainder of your term, or a pro-rata refund. 10% of everything collected is held as a refund reserve for exactly this.
Can I see where the car is right now?
No, and neither can anyone else. Routes are published after 24 hours, aggregated, with everything within 500 m of the driver's home blurred. It's a personal car driven by a named person, and the map is built around that.
How do I pay if I win?
Month 1 plus a deposit equal to the final month is charged at close. Months 2–11 bill monthly to the same card. Or pay the year upfront: 12 months for the price of 10. Crypto and Web3 sponsors are prepaid-only — by card like everyone else; we don't take crypto payments.
Why US dollars?
Because most people bidding on this think in dollars. Every price, deposit and charge is in USD; your card is charged in USD. The one Swiss-franc number is the lease itself (CHF 433/month), converted to the $541 line at a fixed rate of 1.25 so the line can't move during the auction.
Do I get a proper invoice?
Yes. Every payment produces a proper invoice with VAT status stated, suitable for a business expense. Revenue is taxed like revenue; this isn't a grey-zone arrangement.
Who is refused?
Gambling, adult, tobacco, weapons, political and religious organisations, payday lending, MLM, unregistered securities, and a few more. The full list is in the sponsor policy, published before the first bid, because a prepaid sponsor can't be quietly removed later.
What's a Ghost slot?
$10/month for your name and link on this site and the live map. Nothing on the car. Unlimited supply. It exists because some people want to be on the board and don't need to be on the tailgate.
Can I renew after 12 months?
Slots return to auction after 12 months. You hold first refusal at your last price + 10%, with a 7-day window before it goes back on the board.
